All Aboard!

After a few months of incremental changes and a few days of astonishingly quick work, we have now completed the planned refurbishment of 1051 Great Western Road. A monumental task and one which we really feel has been worth the wait and the effort.

We have a significantly longer new bar, with more space for glasses in lovely overhead racks. We have our wood-burning stove, cosy and warm for the chilly winter days ahead. We’ve now installed our booths, designed by us to feel like comfy train carriages. And we have our beer signs, in the style of old train announcement signage! See them all here, in photos from our launch party.

We have filled 18 of our 20 beer taps with local beers and ales; find our current line-up on our beer page.

We of course still have our little harmonium in the corner. It’s gearing up to be used for carols during the Christmas period, and now has a little brass music holder with a scene from what must be Ye Olde Wilde Partye cast into the front.

Thanks to everyone who attended the launch and made the evening so successful. Shout outs are definitely due to all our beer suppliers (the dynamic duo from Jaw Brew, Mark and Alison, popped their heads in); Hobs Reprographics, for their work on getting our lettering printed for the beer signage; Makar Gin for their steady supply of G&Ts; and to all the contractors who got the place ready to open.

A huge thank you too to all our friends and customers who came and supported us between August and November. We’re grateful for your patience and your kindness while we worked towards this! Your lovely comments about the food and service have been much appreciated.

Stay tuned to find out more about plans for the future and for Christmas!
